THE POETIC talents of a husband and wife team are combining for Write Angle’s guest and open mic poetry night.

Performance poets and authors Martin Figura and Helen Ivory will be at The Townhouse, High Street, Petersfield, on Tuesday, July 18, at 7.30pm.

Martin’s poetry collection and resulting show Whistle has won awards and was shortlisted for the prestigious Ted Hughes Award.

His most recent publications are Shed, published by Gatehouse Press, and Dr Zeeman’s Catastrophic Machine, published by Cinnamon Press.

A spoken word show was showcased in 2016 and is touring this year, with Martin performing at festivals and art centres.

Robert McCrum of The Observer has said of Martin’s performance: “Figura was a revelation – funny, sharp and on top form.”

Helen is a poet and visual artist, with her collections being shortlisted and winning awards.

She also edits the webzine Ink, Sweat and Tears, and is tutor and course director for the University of East Anglia/Writers’ Centre Norwich online creative writing programme.

She is working on her fifth collection for Bloodaxe Books, The Anatomical Venue, which centres on women and otherness. The couple live in Norwich.

Entry is £6. Visit the website at: www.petersfieldwriteangle.co.uk for more information.
