A piece of Petersfield’s history has been restored and is now back in its rightful place.
Jewellers Picketts & Pursers restored their Art Deco style clock and it has been re-installed at its original location in the High Street outside Gallery 30.
Picketts & Pursers said: “We are proud to be one of the longest trading family run businesses in Petersfield. Reflecting on the passing of time, one may feel it is befitting to now see the historic clock back up in its original position.”
Watch and clock making has taken place in the town since at least 1773, when William Batt used to run his business from The Square and was responsible for winding the church clock.
From 1846, a succession of clockmakers had been based at number 30 in the High Street. In the 1960s, Picketts and Pursers moved in and took over the business where the clock was based.
