A BUSY West Meon church fete held in glorious sunshine raised around £6,000 for the church and was a “quintessentially” English fete, said first time organiser Emma Barry.
She added: “The weather was amazing, and there was a good number of people through the gate, it was lovely.
“With all the traditional stalls, Pimm’s to drink, and a jazz band playing in the background, it was just quintessentially English.”
Held each year in the grounds of West Meon House, courtesy of owners Rupert and Catherine Younger, one of the more popular attractions at the fair last Saturday was the smashing of egg and tomato pies.
