MEON Valley teenagers were among 100 Scouts from across Hampshire who completed charity work in Africa this summer.

The scouts, aged 14 to 18 years old, also raised more than £500,000 in a bid to make a positive impact in Tanzania.

Jennifer Bunce, Kathryn Longstaffe, Alex Evans and Benjamin Penrose helped build a new medical centre, ran workshops and worked towards renovating a school.

The group also marked the centenary of Scouting by creating an activity centre Tanzanian Scouts will be able to enjoy for years to come. Preparations for the four week trip in August began two years ago.

Alex Evans said: “It’s been a huge challenge, but one that has pushed me to be the best I can.”
