An Alton man is set for sentencing after vigilantes led police to his stash of child pornography.

Basingstoke Magistrates Court heard that a “paedophile hunter group” tracked Andrew Cox to his Vicarage Hill address after engaging with the 61-year-old online.

Their visit to the defendant’s address attracted the police, with officers finding a variety of illegal images on his devices with one being among the most serious.

Mr Cox was later charged with four counts of possessing indecent photographs of children, and a further count of possessing a prohibited image of a child.

He pleaded guilty to all charges on Thursday (March 20) and was released on unconditional bail with a pre-sentence report requested ahead of a May 1 hearing.
