A BRAVE youngster from Clanfield will come to the aid of a Little Princess by losing her (sort of) goldilocks this weekend.
It will be a case of hair today, gone tomorrow for Amelie Loveday on Sunday as the Petersgate Infant School pupil is getting the chop in aid of the Little Princess Trust (LPT).
The seven-year-old wanted to help the Hereford-based charity - which provides real hair wigs for children suffering hair loss due to cancer treatment – by donating 10 inches of her own.
But she’s also going to hand over a big cheque along with her locks, as the youngster is closing in on £600 having smashed her £250 fundraising target.
“Everybody that meets Amelia says her hair is beautiful, but she really wants to do this and is really excited,” said her mother, Michelle.
“We’ve come across a couple of charities that make wigs but the LPT were the ones that said ‘if you ever get your haircut then you should donate your hair’.
“Amelie said straight away ‘I’d like to do that’ so we went online, watched the DVD and it made Amelie wanted to do it even more.
“If we can help somebody else get a real hair wig then that will be amazing. It’s just the most amazing charity.”
Amelia’s house will be packed when her aunt, who is a trained hairdresser, does the honours this Sunday. Readers can still make donations through www.justgiving.com/fundraising/michelle-loveday1
