A Petersfield beauty spot will host a big game this weekend as children will be invited to join a lion hunt.
But don’t worry – no animals will be harmed during the Petersfield Lions Club event around the Heath this Saturday, July 27.
The fun will take place from midday to 3pm while hunters aged ten or below could win a large cuddly lion.
Entrants can take part in the free event by picking up a question paper from the Lions gazebo and following the posters.
Successful hunters will be entered into a draw and given a voucher for a free ‘99’ ice cream at The Plump Duck.
It’s been a busy few weeks for the altruistic group as they began the month with their annual presidential changeover.
Mary Putnam is the group’s new figurehead after taking over from Trevor Copping during a ceremony in Winton House’s garden.
The outgoing president thanked his club-mates for their support over the last year before presenting Appreciation Awards to Dave and Jackie Read for their contribution over the last 12 months.
Mary began by thanking Trevor for his work over the last year after accepting the chain of office.
She said the Lions need to concentrate on their organisational, leadership and service abilities while also enjoying the fun and social side of the club.
Members were also recently treated to coffee and cakes at Free Shop Petersfield in return for giving the good cause the funds to buy a new vacuum cleaner.
