A 41-year-old woman from Lindford has been given a community order after being sentenced for assaulting another woman.

Tanya Newman, of Lindford, Bordon previously pleaded guilty to the offence, which involved striking her victim.

The plea was entered at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on March 17.

She returned to the same court on Wednesday, April 23, for sentencing.

Taking into account a pre-sentence report and giving credit for her early guilty plea, the judge imposed a 12-month community order with several conditions.

Newman must complete 40 hours of unpaid work, undertake 10 days of rehabilitation activity, and comply with a 90-day alcohol abstinence and monitoring requirement.

Any alcohol consumption during this period would be treated as a breach of the order.

She was also ordered to pay a court surcharge and prosecution costs.
