A Sussex firm has added two Petersfield-area care homes to its portfolio after snapping up their parent firm.

Downs House and Stroud House have new owners as Christie & Co has completed the sale of Western Health Care Ltd to the SDR Group.

The properties on Reservoir Lane and Rothercombe Lane have been under the ownership of Paul Rogers and his family for many years.

Both have been updated and refurbished since being bought in 1992 and 2002, respectively, but Paul recently decided to sell as he feels it’s the right time to retire from the care sector.

Share in his company were purchased by the SDR care company that owns and operates both elderly and specialist care homes in southern England.

Mr Rogers thanked Christie & Co for their help as the “smooth running” of both care homes continued through the confidential marketing process.

“SDR Group are ideal purchasers,” said the former managing director.

“We have the same ethos as each other and I believe they will be very good new owners for the homes which we have run over the years to the best of our ability. I wish them all the best.”

Rupert Corney, CEO at SDR Group, said: “Having looked for a while for a care home that would have good synergies with our current elderly home, we were thrilled to be introduced to Paul and visit both Downs House and Stroud House.

“They are lovely businesses which have great potential and are an excellent addition to our group.”
