CHILDREN at Horndean Church of England Junior School have raised more than £500 for Children in Need with their third annual Bake-Off competition.
All 500 pupils were invited to enter a cake themed around the school’s Christian values of TLC – ‘Thinking with Thanksgiving, Learning with Love and Caring with Compassion’.
Winners Izzy Leggatt (Year 3), Lottie Golding (Year 4), Hayley Barton (Year 5) and Tilly Shorten (Year 6) each received a Horndean Church of England Junior School TLC Bake-Off apron as a prize.
Assistant headteacher Jackie Price said: “The children really did us proud and brought in a marvellous selection of home-baked cakes which we have sold to raise funds for Children in Need.
“I never cease to be amazed by the creativity of our children and the generosity of their parents and families, who as well as buying the cakes at the end of the day often make additional donations to the Children in Need fundraising.
“We are so proud of the children for truly demonstrating our school’s Christian value ‘Caring with Compassion’ in seeking opportunities to help those in need.
“So far we have raised over £500, but as we are still selling the total continues to rise.”
