There was a fantastic turnout from the local Liphook community who were pleased? to come back to the Church Centre and meet up with old friends, face to face.?
The hall was? full of colour and chatter, providing a perfect setting for the show.
The number of entries submitted was really high considering this year’s variable summer weather, with the? judges commenting on the high quality of the exhibits.
Almost every class had entries in except the cooking? and eating apple classes.
Our cup winners this year included Lesley Hollands who won the Cookery Cup? and the Lady Skelhorn Trophy for Best in Show with her beautiful purple and white streptocarpus pot plant described by the judges as “knockout”.
Husband and wife team Ian and Ann Haussauer won the Bob Bell Trophy, the Reg Elliott Trophy and the Countess of Brecknock Cup.?
Ian also won the Banksian Medal for the most prize money.?Steve Amos won the Arthur Johnson trophy for his perfect dahlias, John Gilbert won the Vian Cup for his exhibition shallots and also the best vegetable certificate for his potatoes.
Helen Brown won the W A Coyte Annual Challenge Cup for her pot plants, and Marie Claire Keyser won the Floral Cup for her flower arrangements.?
Lesley Hollands’ grandsons Archie and Harrison Gooding won the two children’s cups.
Tables and chairs were put outside for people to enjoy tea and delicious cakes provided by the chairman throughout the afternoon.
Bramshott, Liphook & District Horticultural Society’s next face to face event is on Thursday,?October 21, in the Church Centre at 7.30pm when it will welcome a talk by Kathryn Harkup on poisonous plants. Everyone welcome.? Visitors will be charged £5.
