Residents in a village south of Butser Hill in East Hampshire are out in full force tonight regarding a housing development consultation.
People in Clanfield are having their say on a proposal for 200 new homes on land south of Chalton Lane at The Clanfield Centre till 8pm.
When the Petersfield Post arrived shortly after the event started at 4pm, the line was out the door and remained that way the whole time.
Developer Barratt David Wilson Homes (BDW) is currently preparing to send an official application to East Hampshire District Council.
“Everything there is going to affect us indirectly,” said Carol Reed, who lives on Sunderton Lane, and would face directly opposite the new housing.
“We want to be sure that plans are afoot and preparations are not going to have too much of a detrimental effect on what is the lane and has been protected for many moons.”
Carol’s husband, Calvin Reed, added: “It is used a lot for dog walkers and the main issue we've got is the traffic. At the moment it's used as a rat run and Hampshire County Council have been looking at this for years.
“There’s a pinch point on Chalton Lane and they say they’ve got an entry at the entrance there so that is going to go.”

Calvin added that when he went to the local doctor’s surgery, the team were worried about how they would handle the increase in numbers of people.
Mary Moffat, another Sunderton Lane resident with her husband David, told the paper they are “very concerned” about how the doctors will cope with the situation.
Mary added: “I'm majorly concerned about the amount of traffic that it will create because if there's 200 houses, how many people does that mean will be living there?
“What will happen to the traffic when it comes out of this new estate and it wants to go to the shops? They'll turn down Sunderton Lane, which is mainly a single track road.
“Apart from the loss of farmland, which I think is absolutely unacceptable. The whole thing is not acceptable and as far as I'm concerned, Clanfield is full!”
Not too far away from the proposed development is Patrica Russell, who lives in Swallow Court opposite Clanfield Junior School.
“I disapprove of it entirely,” Patricia said.
“There's no infrastructure for the GP surgeries to be extended, no amenities, no public transport and parking. We're going to be hemmed in!”
The Petersfield Post did speak to BDW and is waiting for an official comment.
