IN THE past, Petersfield Remembrance Day parade has been led by soldiers of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, and the Royal Marines, all based at Louisberg Barracks in Bordon.
But this year the barracks is closing, and the soldiers moving to the new Defence College of Training at former RAF Lyneham, Wiltshire.
Petersfield Royal British Legion organises the remembrance ceremony, this year on Sunday, November 8.
Branch chairman Commander RN (retired) Clive Lloyd said: “The Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Hampshire, Vice Admiral Sir David Steel, will represent the Queen.”
It starts at 10am, when British Legion members and veterans, with Petersfield Air Cadets, Churcher’s College Combined Cadet Force, the Salvation Army Band and Petersfield Scouts, Cubs, Beavers, Guides, Brownies and Rainbows, will march from Swan Street car park to The Square.
Churcher’s College orchestra will provide music for a service in The Square.
At 10.50am at the war memorial in High Street there will be a two-minute silence, wreaths will be laid, and the Roll of Honour read.
The Rev Will Hughes will lead the service, and the National Anthem will be sung at 11.10am.
Then at 11am on Armistice Day, Wednesday,?November 11, a service will be held at the war memorial to mark the end of the First World War.
At Sheet, the Remembrance service is at 10.50am at the war memorial by St Mary Magdalen church.
At Buriton there is a service outside St Mary’s Church at 10.50am.
At 10.50am in Rogate, before the church service, an Act of Remembrance will be held at the war memorial.
And on Wednesday, November 11, an Armistice Day ceremony will take place at Rogate church at 10.50am.
At All Saints church, Steep, and St Peter’s, Froxfield Green, Remembrance services start at 10.45am, while at St Mary’s, Selborne, the service begins at 10.55am.
