Men of all ages are preparing to march through Petersfield in a fundraising tribute to a family man and campaigner.
The second annual March for Men with Kev in aid of Prostate Cancer UK and PCaSO will take place on September 15, with 2.5k, 5k and 10k walks all starting at The Square at 10am.
The fundraising walk and awareness event is named after Kevan Birkett, a much-missed family man, father and decorator who battled bravely against prostate cancer.
He was diagnosed in late 2021 after experiencing persistent neck and shoulder pain but despite undergoing treatment, the cancer spread to his bones, lymph nodes and elsewhere.
Throughout his battle he tirelessly advocated for early diagnoses and awareness, emphasising the importance of regular check-ups.
Last year’s inaugural march saw more than 200 well-wishers take to the streets in a united show of support for the Leeds fan.
Participants defied the soggy conditions to raise £10,000 with funds being divided between Prostate Cancer UK and PCaSO, which provides free prostate cancer testing in the community.
Organisers hope the second march will be even more successful with participants donning blue in memory of Kevan and in solidarity with the thousands of men affected by the prostate cancer each year.
To register either look for ‘March for Men with Kev Petersfield’ at www.eventbrite.co.uk or email [email protected].
There’s a £5 registration fee for adults to include a Prostate Cancer UK T-shirt, no entry charge for children and dogs.
