TRAINS and bus services in Petersfield are being disrupted following an incident at Petersfield Railway Station this afternoon.

Emergency services are at the scene following reports at around 1.30pm that a train may have hit a person in the railway station.

Eye witnesses have reported that the incident involved a train coming into the station from the London direction and it is currently stopped across the level crossing.

Police, fire and ambulance crews are currently at the scene dealing with the incident.

South Western Railway has warned passengers that services in both directions are expected to be disrupted for some time.

A message on Twitter said: “Due to emergency services dealing with an incident between Haslemere and Havant all lines are blocked.

“Train services through these stations may be subject to disruption on all routes. Disruption is expected until 6pm.”

Bus services to and from the railway station are also being disrupted.

Stagecoach Tweeted: “Due to a railway incident at Petersfield Railway Station services 37 and 38 are unable to serve this stop, please make your way to the town centre.”

Local traffic in the town centre is being diverted via Frenchmans Road while the level crossing is blocked.

An air ambulance is reported to have landed in Bell Hill Recreation Ground.
