BOHUNT Sixth Form, which only officially opened its doors at the start of September, welcomed prospective students, parents and members of the community to its first open evening since the start of term.
Guests had the opportunity to see for themselves the new state-of-the-art sixth form, which is equipped with undergraduate-style science laboratories, a designated visual arts room, a music room which includes special recording facilities and numerous individual creative workspaces.
As part of the open evening, there was a secret cinema film, with the content only being revealed on the evening itself.
The film showed a snippet of life at Bohunt Sixth Form, with the ten minute film following students’ journey’s, a look around the building, conversations with fellow students and key members of staff, including head of Bohunt Sixth Form Clare Hodgson, and head of Bohunt School Neil Strowger.
Popcorn was on offer for guests to enjoy with the film.
Alongside the showing of the film, there was a range of activities for prospective students to experience and take part in, including scuba diving and kayaking, and a series of demonstrations from microscopy to philosophy.
Prospective students were invited to meet the teachers and applications for September 2018 are now being accepted.
Bohunt Sixth Form headteacher Clare Hodgson said: “Our first open evening was a real success, and an excellent opportunity for prospective students and parents to experience life at Bohunt Sixth Form, especially now our first cohort is up and running.
“I was delighted to be joined by headteachers Mark Marande, from The Petersfield School, and Graham Spawforth, from Ditcham Park, to meet and speak with guests about the fantastic opportunities available at the sixth form.”
Bohunt Education Trust (BET) chief executive officer Neil Strowger said: “The first academic year of our brand new Bohunt Sixth Form has started brilliantly, and our students have shown tremendous passion and enthusiasm for all their new subjects and opportunities available.
“We have been delighted to host our open evening, enabling more young people and parents to experience and explore our sixth form and all the opportunities that studying here brings, from our highly aspirational outdoor education programme to outstanding teaching and personalised support.”
