THE CLOSE-knit family atmosphere and its ‘open door’ approach were highlighted by Ofsted inspectors who judged that Steep Primary continues to be a good school.
The one-day inspection also found the school’s safeguarding procedures to be very effective and, as a result, the pupils felt “very well cared for” and “very safe.
The children’s responsibility for their own learning shone through too, with this developing to a ‘sophisticated level’ as they moved up the school. Parents considered themselves fortunate to be part of the school community, and confidence and independence of their children, and their good behaviour in lessons was also praised.
Headteacher Louissa Romans said:?“I?am really pleased with the outcome of the inspection and particularly pleased that the report recognises the strong family ethos of our small rural school as well as commending its academic standards and continued improvement.”
