Whatever the weather, the Clean Up for Remembrance litter pick in the town will go ahead.
Petersfield Society trustee Beth Svarovska has been organising volunteer clean-ups since 2016 and said: “Although there has been wet and windy weather lately, the Clean Up for Remembrance is weather proofed.”
Volunteers are asked to be at St Peter’s Church this Saturday (November 5) between 10.45am and midday to receive litter-picking kit and to co-ordinate which roads each volunteer will clear.
Beth added: “They are free to do that whenever it suits them before Remembrance Sunday on November 13.
“If anyone wants to litter pick as a group on the day we’ll do the watermeadows, weather permitting. If people can’t make it to the launch, we can still plan for them.
“Early on Remembrance Sunday, a smaller team will re-clear the centre of the town whatever the weather.
“This is a mark of respect to the veterans. Thanks to them we have freedom to choose how we want our town to be and to work together to make that happen.”
