Fernhurst came alive on Sunday, as locals gathered to celebrate the grand opening of the Fernhurst Village Shop and Post Office extension.
As a gesture of thanks to the community, shop proprietor Bala Thayaparan and his team put on a range of free food and drink, and children enjoyed getting their faces painted.
Mr Thayaparan, who has run the shop for four years, said: “The support from the people of Fernhurst village has been felt from the beginning.
“We are here to serve the community and will continue to do so for as long as we can.”
One of the highlights of the extension is the introduction of COOK quality frozen meals, while coffee lovers have a reason to rejoice too, as Jack’s Beans Coffee Company has partnered with the shop and post office.
Also newly-offered are Slushies, and a range of freshly-baked goods from Country Choice.
