PETERSFIELD Twinning Association hosted two students from Petersfield’s twin town in Germany, Warendorf, for a three-week period of work experience last month.
Simon Wekeiser (17) and Isabella Schaetz (17) spent the time in Petersfield improving their written, spoken and conversational English at work placements in the town – Simon was at the Petersfield Bookshop and Isabella was at The King’s Arms youth centre and the Petersfield Post.
Petersfield twinning group spokesman David Jeffery said: “They have certainly seen their visit as a success – not only have they performed excellently in their work placements, but they have taken advantage of everything the town has to offer, from a glance at our history in the museum, to meeting our mayor Jamie Matthews at the town hall, to participating in the celebration of Guy Fawkes’ night at Bell Hill.
“They are fine ambassadors for their town and their country and everyone who has met them has spoken of their charm and enthusiasm for everything British, and for Petersfield itself.
“Their English is excellent, which has made their engagements very worthwhile, and we wish them every success in their future studies.”
