A care home manager in Horndean has been recognised at a national awards ceremony.

The Star Awards highlights individual and team excellence at more than 150 homes nationwide, across Care UK’s Residential Care Services division. Aimee Sparks, home manager at Pear Tree Court, walked away with the Outstanding Leadership Award.

She joined the team in 2023 after a successful role in a specialist service and a five-year span working for the NHS in hospital, specialising in elderly care and orthopaedics.

Aimee said she is passionate about her role and that caring for residents on a long-term basis provides the opportunity to really get to know each resident and their loved ones.

On winning the award, she said: “I’m really surprised and over the moon to be chosen for this award from so many homes. I’ve been at Pear Tree Court for 18 months, so the turnaround has been super-quick and I’m very appreciative of everyone’s efforts. I’m going to have to find a special place for this award.”

Admired by team members and residents alike for her hardworking nature, Aimee was praised by the judges for her outstanding commitment to residents' health and happiness.

The award recognises Aimee as a strong leader who supports the team at Pear Tree Court with inspiration, motivation and clear direction, to deliver exceptional quality and commercial performance underpinned by a strong, values-based culture within the home.

Aimee added: “The Star Awards ceremony was a truly inspirational event celebrating the amazing work that takes place in Care UK homes across the UK.

“I am so proud of the delivery of care we have achieved, which in turn has seen amazing outcomes for the people that live here. I’m so grateful to have won this award and would like to thank all of my colleagues for their continuous support.”
