A level crossing in Petersfield that connects Ramshill and Tilmore will close later this month.

Kingsfernsden Lane level crossing will close for three days from 10pm on Friday, March 28 to 6am on Monday, March 31. Traffic is not able to pass through due to the nature of the work being done.

It is part of Network Rail’s Portsmouth Direct Upgrade, which began in early 2022, and is expected to finish this year.

During the closure, engineers will renew the crossing’s strail, a heavy-duty system made of rubber panels that connect roads and railways, and track repairs will also be undertaken.

There are alternate routes for those affected, including School Lane through Sheet or Tilmore Road and the A272 and B2070.
