VITAL money was handed out to good causes in the community at Liphook Carnival’s annual general meeting.

Among the groups that benefited on the night were the 1st Liphook Scout Group, Liphook Guides and Brownies, Liphook Amateur Productions (LAMPS), Liphook Methodist Church, Hampshire Sea and Rescue, and Liphook Village Hall management committee.

Other groups who benefited included the Peak Centre Trust, the Methodist Amateur Dramatic (MAD) Company, Liphook Over 60s Club, the Carers Group, the Royal British Legion, the Community Support Laundry, the Firefighters Charity and Bramshott and Liphook Voluntary Care Group.

Liphook Carnival committee chairman Karen Feeney said: “The evening had its usual format, and it was a pleasure to be able to donate money to good causes in the village.

“We had about £2,500 to give out in total and divide between the good causes. The Barry Pope Memorial Shield went to Scout leader Nigel Woods, who has helped out with the carnival’s bonfire for the last ten years.”

This year’s carnival will be held on Saturday, October 29, and Karen is already looking forward to it.

“I would like to see lots of floats at the carnival this year,” said Karen.

“And if any businesses want to sponsor us we would be happy to talk to them.”
