THEIR music and words evoking the beauty and mystery of the South Downs has captivated classical music fans.

And the album In A South Downs Way, released in June, went straight to the top of the classical charts after Downtown Abbey actor Hugh Bonneville, who lives at Milland, chose The Path Towards Tomorrow track as one of his Desert Island Discs.

Now the trio of Hugh, composer Damian Montagu and trumpet player Stewart Prosser, of Petersfield, are coming together in an evening of conversation, poetry and music.

They can be seen in In A South Downs Way at the Minerva Theatre in Chichester on Sunday, November 13, at 3pm and 7.30pm.

The show will include the world premiere live performance of the album, which is the inaugural work in a project entitled Walk Upon England, which celebrates the countryside as a source of creativity in music and spoken word.

The album is a collection of tracks written for strings, piano and brass, created after Damian’s solitary and meditative walks on the downs.

Hugh narrates some of his original writing over the music.

He was originally asked just to recite, but wanted to write something of his own. Tickets are £25. Visit www.cft.org.uk
