Amesbury School in Hindhead has been recognised by Microsoft as a Showcase School – and is now one of only 52 from the state and independent sectors in the UK in this elite group.

Head of school Jon Whybrow said: “We are delighted we have been endorsed as a school that makes purposeful yet innovative use of technology.

“This helps our pupils build not only the knowledge they need, but also the skills to collaborate, communicate and innovate successfully.”

Showcase Schools should ‘exemplify the best of teaching and learning in the world today, recognised and celebrated for educational transformation that includes vision and innovation in teaching, learning, and preparing students for the future,’ says Microsoft.

Head of computing Pat Risely said: “The world is changing. At home we routinely find and share information digitally.”

Henry, an Amesbury pupil, said: “Using a laptop has changed the way I look at school.”

Digital devices are available to all pupils in their classrooms, with those in Year 5 and above using laptop loaned to them by the school.
