THE NEW headteacher at Langrish Primary School is aiming to build on the school’s strong reputation.
Sarah Wright joined the school near Petersfield in September, and she says she has been made to feel very welcome.
“It is a lovely school in a lovely area,” said Sarah. “The children are so enthusiastic and the parents are very supportive.
“The school has a family ethos and is very welcoming, and I’ve settled in well.
“I’m new into Hampshire, having been the head of school at Highfield South Farnham Primary School.
“I’ve had welcome meetings with parents, and regular parent forums, to make sure that parents have a say in any potential changes that happen in the school.
“I’m also working closely with Friends of Langrish School (FoLS), on developing their role within the school.
“I’ve made sure that I’ve been visible in the community, and we’ve had visitors to the school from the community.
“I’ve involved the parish council and the local vicar has come in to make links with the school.”
Sarah is aiming to continue the school’s strong academic results, and increase the number of extra-curricular activities on offer to the children.
“I love sport and drama and, already, there is a lot more sport happening in the school,” added Sarah.
“In the spring term we’ve got a school production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat.
“The academic results are very high, which is great, so I want to sustain the very high results and make sure music, the arts and drama are also really important.
“It’s about spotting everybody’s talents and making sure there’s provisions to be outstanding in all areas.
“I’m bringing new ideas to build on what’s already here. It’s not changing everything, but building on what’s here with a fresh pair of eyes.”
