Liss Parish Council is seeking nominations for the annual Villagers of the Year Awards and time is running out.

This year’s awards include categories specifically to recognise outstanding contributions made by the young people in the village.

Deadline for nominations is close of play this Sunday, February 16 and the awards will be presented at the Annual Parish Meeting on Wednesday, March 19 at the Village Hall.

The categories are:

  • ‘Villager of the Year’ - awarded to an individual in recognition of their contribution to the community of Liss. They must have given their time voluntarily to an organisation, group or the parish as a whole. It is open to candidates 17 years and above on September 1.
  • ‘Young Villager of the Year 6-11’ - awarded to a young person who deserving of recognition for making an outstanding contribution to the local community or they have achieved something special which is deserving of recognition or due to the general way in which they live their life is worthy of recognition. It is open to candidates between 6 and 11 years of age (inclusive on September 1). Nominations may be made by anyone of any age but nominees must be sponsored by a qualifying adult - such as a relative/youth group leader/teacher.
  • ‘Young Villager of the Year 12-16’ - awarded to a young person who is deserving of recognition for making an outstanding contribution to the local community or they have achieved something special which is deserving of recognition or due to the general way in which they live their life is worthy of recognition. It is open to candidates between 12 and 16 years of age (inclusive on September 1). Nominations may be made by anyone of any age but nominees must be sponsored by a qualifying adult - such as a relative/youth group leader/teacher.

Nominations must be submitted in writing to the Clerk. Make sure you include all the relevant information including which category your nomination is for and why you think that person deserves the award (including contact details for the nominee).
