THIS year’s Petersfield Lions Club’s peace poster competition for pupils at The Petersfield School was won by Matilda Hiltoft (fourth from left in the photo).
The theme was Lead with Compassion and local artist Caroline Strong and Petersfield Lion president Sandra Manktelow (third from left holding Elizabeth Fennell’s runner-up entry) said entries were of a ‘very high standard.’
And with so many outstanding entries, the judges selected three highly commended pieces of work.
Caroline Strong said: “The very colourful winning entry has good impact, and fits the brief. In runners-up, we liked the person leading the way to the world with different flags and doves – what a lot of work from Finlay (second from left).
“We loved the hands and puzzle idea from Anna (far right), and we also loved Elizabeth’s idea of the world in a pair of hands.
“Generally, we were most impressed by the level of artwork entered, so well done to all of them.”
The winners received Lions Club certificates and vouchers for a local art shop.
Matilda’s picture also won a section in the Lions International peace poster competition.
