Staff at a Petersfield care home have rolled out the barrel for residents and visitors on International Beer Day.
There were cheers and beers all round when the doors of Tilmore Gardens’ in-house pub, The Tilmore Arms, reopened following a refurbishment.
The pub first opened in 2018 but its fixtures and fittings were looking tired and worn before its recent makeover.
The revamp means that residents with a range of learning disabilities can now enjoy a night on the town with non-alcoholic beer and soft drinks on tap.
“This allows them to have the pub experience, in a safe space where they feel comfortable,” said Michelle Wilson, local service manager.
Caretaker, Jason Baker, and care and support worker, Mandy Todd had plenty of feedback from residents.
New additions include a branded welcome mat, dartboard for a traditional pub feel and an octopus-themed mural painted by residents to brighten up the space.
