PETERSFIELD Hospital was evacuated at around 1.45pm today (November 20) after fears there was a fire.
Fire tenders and specialist rescue vehicles from Cosham, Southsea, Horndean, Eastleigh and Petersfield were called to the hospital in Swan Street.
Patients and staff were evacuated to the car park, and the building was declared safe at about 2.30pm.
A Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “There was light smoke from an overhead fan in the roof space. Two sets of breathing apparatus were used, and one single jet and a big jet. No one was injured and the building was handed back to the hospital maintenance team at 2.28pm.”
