A PETERSFIELD school now has its own heart defibrillator which will be for both school and community use.
To ensure there is enough people able to use the machine, which shoots electric surges across the heart to restart it if it stops working, senior pupils at The Petersfield School in Cranford Road underwent a one hour training session.
It was delivered by South Central Ambulance Service medics; as part of their leadership training school prefects, Duke Of Edinburgh Award pupils, Health and Social Care and PSHE students took part in it.
Training organiser Lisa Baker said: “We are so pleased to be able to offer some of our students this important opportunity, and we are looking at organising future training and related events for other year groups.
“The trainers complimented our students on their enthusiasm, maturity and courtesy, and said that they were a credit to our school.”
