LISS Parish Council has strongly objected to a planning application at an historic site in the village.
South Oak Developments has applied for one detached three-bedroom cottage and one detached four-bedroom house at Saddlers in Farnham Road.
The application is also seeking alterations to the existing site access from Church Street, as well as provision of open and covered car parking and cycle stores, including new covered car parking and a cycle store for Saddlers, new hard and soft landscaping and boundary treatments, and other works.
The application is an amendment to a previous application last year, which was applying for two semi-detached two-bedroom cottages and one detached three bedroom house at Saddlers.
An application for four houses, a single garage, garden room outbuilding and car port at the site in 2014 was refused. Another application for three detached two-storey houses at the site in 2015 was also refused.
Liss Parish Council vice-chairman Keith Budden said: “The houses still don’t reflect the character of the West Liss Conservation Area.
“There is also the issue of access and that the visual impact of Church Street might change. I’m not sure the issue of access off Church Street can be solved.
“The West Liss Conservation Area was recognised in the Liss Neighbourhood Plan which has just been adopted, so we will stand up for the conservation area.
“It would have been beneficial if the developers had talked to the parish council before amending their application. The developers can come and talk to us about their ideas. Our door is always open. We might not be able to find a solution, but we can at least explore if anything is possible or not.”
The agent for the application, Matthew Utting, of MatPlan Limited, said: “The application has been revised as a result of talks with planning officers and Historic England. We feel these plans are the best stab at the site.”
