A SUNNY Saturday saw Steep pupils break out their dancing shoes for the school’s summer fayre.

This year’s event on the recreation ground next to Steep Primary School in Church Road, had a 1950s theme, which was embraced by both pupils and parents.

Deputy headteacher Rosie Higson said: “It was a lovely day, and the fair went very well.

“Some of the children got into the swing, and were demonstrating jive, and quite a few parents turned up in 1950s outfits, which was fantastic.”

There was also live music, as well as traditional stalls, entertainments and refreshments, all enjoyed by a bumper crowd.

The annual fair, organised by the Friends of Steep School parents group, raises money to help fund equipment, trips and projects.

Mrs Higson said the final amount raised at this year’s fayre wasn’t yet known.
