Petersfield residents are being given a heartfelt thanks for giving more than £29,000 to this year’s Poppy Appeal organised by Petersfield Royal British Legion.
Poppy Appeal organiser Darren ‘Daz’ Hare (pictured below) said: “Together we have so far raised £29,464.98 towards the Poppy Appeal.
“I would like to say a big thank you to the kind and generous people of Petersfield for giving so much.
“But this couldn’t have been achieved without the support and time of the volunteer collectors and the poppy distributors in the surrounding villages.
“And also thanks to the students of Bedales School on Remembrance Sunday who were collecting with buckets, the kind people in the crowd attending the parade and service in The Square donated a huge total of £2151.61.
“I would especially like to thank the many schools in our area who teach their pupils the importance of Remembrance, and also for the generosity of those young people when it comes to making a donation to the Poppy Appeal.”
Money raised through the appeal supports serving and former servicemen and their families.
