THERE?were a few tears shed by her mother and grandmother as six-year-old Kayleigh Ann Skipp had her lovely long hair cut for charity.
But they couldn’t have been more proud of her as hairdresser Tasha Osborne snipped off her plaits, which will be donated to the Little Princess Trust which provides real hair wigs for poorly children. Kayleigh, of Privett, a pupil at Langrish Primary School, has also raised £585 for the trust.
Mum Anna said she was worried when it came to the time of the haircut that Kayleigh would panic. But when she asked her how she was feeling she said “I’m excited mummy”.
“I’m afraid both mummy and nanny shed a tear when the first plait was cut,” said Anna, but when Tasha was finished Kayleigh held up her plaits and said ‘maybe the charity can make two wigs out of these mummy’.”
The youngster first had the idea after seeing a television advert with images of children who had lost their hair through medical treatment. She was saddened and immediately wanted to do something to help.
