WORK is taking place to refurbish The Greatham Inn, which shut its doors on January 2.

Fencing surrounds the pub and its phone number is not in service, but a sign states: “Sorry, temporarily closed for redecoration until further notice. We are under new management. New menu coming soon!”

It is a good time for the pub to be closed, with roadworks preventing motorists reaching it from the Ham Barn Roundabout end of Petersfield Road.

In 2019 it was put up for sale and 80 people attended a crisis meeting in the village hall amid demolition fears.
