THE Chichester district councillor for Rogate has been selected as the parliamentary candidate for the Chichester Constituency.

Chichester Conservative Association (CCA) has chosen Gillian Keegan its parliamentary candidate for the June 8 general election.

The Chichester District Council councillor was selected after current Tory Chichester MP Andrew Tyrie announced he will step down.

The member for Rogate is the council cabinet member for commercial services responsible for increasing council revenue and securing money for key services.

She has lived in the Chichester area for seven years and is married with two step-sons and on the governing board of St Richard’s Hospital in Chichester.

Cllr Keegan is also a member of the Rural and Coastal West Sussex Partnerships and director of the Business Improvement District in Chichester city centre.

Before politics, she enjoyed a successful career in the manufacturing, banking and technology sectors.

In a statement, the Chichester Conservative Association said it “looks forward to providing Gillian with the fullest possible support in her campaign for the seat.”
