Shiver me timbers! Petersfield’s Summer Festival makes a grand return this bank holiday weekend.

There’s plenty to please both land-lovers and seafarers with the town centre shindig including a Pirate Day for the first time.

So put on your eye-patch and practice your pirate voice with the winners being announced Captain of the ship on Bank Holiday Monday.

Visitors can expect fun stalls, live music, classic cars and amazing food around The Square, High Street and Chapel Street.

A programme of live music will begin on Saturday evening with Brit Pop Revolution covering some of the best songs from the era. They will be followed by headliners, Key Lime Pi, who will bring fun to all the family with their ska, funk and dance.

The Superhero Sunday fancy dress competition takes place at 3pm with headliner The One Night Band playing all the best tunes from the 1930s onwards.

Petrolheads will enjoy the display of vintage motorbikes on Sunday while Petersfield’s firefighters and their truck should be a hot attraction in The Square. The Star Wars Rebels will also make their imperial march into town to lure visitors to the dark side.

ShantyHead will get pirates in the mood from 2pm on Monday with their shanties while the fancy dress competition will begin at 2.30pm.

This is followed by live music from Olivia Steuben’s & Co, Amba Tremain and The Ogretones with their tribute to the Shrek soundtracks. There will also be a display of classic cars in town.
