Schools in Farnborough were locked down on Tuesday after a man was alleged to have made bomb threats.

Hampshire Police responded to The Sixth Form College Farnborough at about 11.35am after receiving a report of the threat, forcing the college to close immediately.

After a search, officers found no explosive devices and no injuries were reported. The college was then removed from lockdown and the threat was deemed resolved.

A 40-year-old man from Farnborough was arrested on suspicion of making threats to kill and remains in custody.

As a precaution, other schools in the area were also placed in lockdown but the alert was lifted shortly after.

The college announced that mock exams scheduled for the day had been cancelled, but it had returned to normal operations.
