An impressive production of a West End musical has brought down the curtain on a school year in an East Hampshire village.

Young pupils from Selborne CoE Primary School could definitely feel the love from the audience with their production of The Lion King.

The end of term musical performed by Key Stage Two pupils was a dazzling affair that was straight out of Africa in soul and sound.

Their singing, dancing and comic timing blew the audience away with dozens of proud parents snapping up tickets for the two-night run.

Pupils got a taste of things to come a fortnight earlier as they took part in an African drumming workshop and honed their acting skills during a visit by Flip Theatre.

The activities were part of a link-up with the Alton Arts Festival with further highlights including a rainbow-themed collaborative art project and seascape project with local artist Susanna Acland.
