Wannabe newsreaders or radio DJs will be given a chance to shine this weekend in Petersfield Festival Hall.
Shine Radio is holding a ‘Have a Go’ event in the Rose Room from 5pm this Saturday to give listeners to chance to bring out their inner broadcaster.
Visitors will get the opportunity to see what goes on behind the scenes at a community radio station and how programmes, stories and reports are recorded.
But the spotlight will firmly be on listeners with visitors as they will get the chance to become a radio star, with hopes high the event could unearth a hidden talent.
“The ‘Have a Go’ event is a chance for our listeners to come behind the scenes and see how we work, and to let them have a go themselves,” said Shine presenter Kirsty Meredith.
“There will be newsreading, weather reporting, writing and reading, and you can see a show being recorded.
“We’re hoping to attract more volunteers but it’s also an opportunity to see what happens. Who knows, we might even uncover a future star.”
A host of Shine presenters will attend with the show including a performance from Fleur Ash. There will also be a collection for the Mayors Charities as Cllr JC Crissey is supporting the event.
