THOUSANDS of people will bring out the bunting and party poppers this weekend to celebrate a royal milestone.
But choosing a party could be a difficult one for people south of Butser with several villages throwing their own shindig to mark the Queen’s 90th Birthday.
People should ‘follow the bunting’ to Blendworth House tomorrow (Saturday) as the team at Holy Trinity Church are holding a village fete in the Crabden Lane property from 11am to 5pm.
Entertainment, stalls and traditional fete games and activities have been promised along with a bouncy castle, photographic exhibition, refreshments and much more.
There should be a royal turnout when Horndean Infant School holds its Summer Fair tomorrow (Saturday) from noon to 3pm with visitors being encouraged to dress in red, white and blue.
The event, which has a trooping the colour theme, will include club performances, a Pimms tent, barbecue and chocolate tombola, while the top raffle prize will be £100 in cash.
Community-minded people in Clanfield have decided to celebrate the Queen’s 90th by holding a fete on Sunday in aid of The Rowans Hospice and the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.
The fun will begin at 2pm on the dog park off Green Lane with villagers being encouraged to bring a picnic to the event, which will feature a wide range of stalls and family-friendly activities.
Worshippers at The Church of St Peter and St Paul are praying for good weather on Sunday as they’ve invited residents to attend the Hambledon Village Picnic.
A hog roast will be available but participants will be encouraged to add food to the ‘bring and share’ table with the fun beginning at 12.15pm in the grounds of the village hall.
A street party will also take place outside the Morrisons store in Horndean from 2pm to 4pm on Sunday.
