Children from Steep gave up their Saturdays to help raise money for charity.
The youngsters aged between 9 and 13 years-old, spent part of their weekends picking apples and cleaning and bagging them to sell for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The fruit came from the garden of resident Frankie North and has been going on for a few years.
“They had a great time!” Frankie said.
“In total, they collected around 44 kilos worth of Bramley apples.”
She added that it was nice to see the children spending time outdoors rather than being distracted by mobile phones or TV. The days weren’t without mischief though, with some eager adventurers trying to climb the tree.
After the tree had been picked clean of its fruit, The Harrow Inn pub helped the children sell the apples and raised £80. The pub is a regular supporter of Macmillan and its coffee morning in September raised more than £3,000.
