Farnham's patchwork of alleyways will be celebrated in a new exhibition by artist Susie Lidstone launching at the New Ashgate Gallery on June 17, running until July 29.
Susie Lidstone: Lost Alleys of Farnham features Susie’s paintings of many hidden gems of the market town’s architecture, each boasting a strong sense of place.
Susie trained in Fine Art Printmaking at West Surrey College of Art and Design and is one of the few women worldwide to be a full member of The Society of Architectural Illustration.
Fascinated by the architecture of Farnham and all its alleyways, Susie enjoys capturing the hidden parts of Farnham and the shops that have gone, but form so much of the history of the town.
Alongside the exhibition, a video has been produced in which Susie tells of her love for Farnham, and also her working methods, as she walks through the hidden lanes and alleyways that have inspired her upcoming exhibition. This can be viewed online via the link https://youtu.be/71Hdc4rePrQ
Susie Lidstone has been painting for more than 40 years and works from her small studio in north Farnham. She is currently taking part in the North Farnham Art Trail, as part of Surrey Open Studios, opening the door to her studio on selected days until June 18.
