FUNDRAISING events are being held in Ropley to help raise money for the rebuilding of St Peter’s Church after it was badly damaged by fire in 2014.
It was insured for £2,854,962, and a substantial additional sum has been raised by the appeal fund and The Friends of St Peter’s.
But the current shortfall for phase one is £87,500 to achieve a useable building this summer.
The first fundraising event is an online auction with prizes including activities, holidays, paintings and goods.
Bids must be in by 9pm on Saturday, September 4.
Then on Sunday, September 5, there is a car boot sale at Station Hill, Ropley.
Sellers should arrive at 7.30am and gates are open to the public from 8.30am to midday.
There is a suggested entry donation of £1 per adult, and burgers and ice creams will be on sale.
The auction and car boot proceeds will be match-funded by a generous anonymous donor, up to a maximum of £50,000.
