Drinkers have been given a triple shot of good news as the doors of three East Hampshire pubs have reopened within a fortnight following lengthy closures.

It’s been a month of rare good news on the local pub scene as watering holes in Froxfield, Liss Forest and Hollywater are back in business.

The first to welcome back drinkers was The White Horse as the famed “Pub With No Name” reopened on November 10 following a lengthy refit. There were concerns about its future after the famed pub closed in July but Eddie Tyrwhitt-Drake and Charlie Kearns have definitely put those worries to bed.

“It’s been going really, really well and we’ve been welcoming people back from the local area and further afield,” said Mr Kearns.

“Sunday (November 12) was huge and we did 130 covers. We’re looking forward to Christmas now and we’ll soon have an events schedule for the year.”

Planned forthcoming events include a curry night and Christmas Carols evening while the pub is expected to open both Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

It’s a been a similar story in Liss Forest as villagers were queueing to get into The Temple Inn after reopening last weekend. 

The pub has been closed for nearly a year but business was brisk on Saturday and Sunday with food and drink going down well with visitors.

“Saturday was just mad and we had people standing up, every seat was taken and there was a line out of the door,” said Mercedesz Kover, whose Hungarian parents Zoltan and Dora took over the lease a month ago.

Expect to see authentic goulash on the menu soon while the new landlords also plan to open The Temple from midday to 2pm on Christmas Day. 

Finally, The Royal Oak in Hollywater is open again with patrons making up for the lost time in style last Saturday with drinks and live music from The Vagabonds. Expect live music every Saturday night with pub food available soon.
