A person has died after being struck by a train this morning in East Hampshire which brought all nearby railway lines to a halt.
South Western Railway (SWR) services between Haslemere and Havant were cancelled, delayed or revised, with the disruption lasting until 2pm.
Petersfield’s Shine Radio reported at the time that the incident had closed School Lane, Kingfernsden Lane and Long Road in Sheet.
A British Transport Police spokesperson said: “Officers were called to the line near Petersfield railway station at around 7.02am today (13 January) following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
