A VILLAGE sports day is set to return in Liphook this summer.
The sporting extravaganza will take place in the village on Saturday, July 2.
The aim of the sports day is to promote the facilities and sports activities available in Liphook and encourage people to come along, meet established members and play some sample games with a view to joining a club.
A successful village sports day was first held in Liphook last year.
Bramshott and Liphook parish councillor Jane Ives said: “The second village sports day will be held on Saturday, July 2, from 10.30am to 4pm following the success of last year’s event. The day is completely free and suitable for all the family.
“It is being sponsored by Bramshott and Liphook Parish Council and East Hampshire District Council.
“This year we have some really exciting new sports joining us as well as some favourites from last year.”
Once again, like last year, Bohunt School is supporting the event, and will be giving total access to its facilities and equipment on the day.
Cllr Ives said: “Bohunt School are allowing us to use their fantastic facilities for the day and many of the sports will be located there, with others at the Recreation Ground. The aim of the day is for anyone to pitch up and have a go at any or all of the sports on offer.
“All the sports clubs are offering their sport for free so participants can have a taster session.”
Prizes will be awarded for people who take part in the highest number of sports on the day in different age categories.
The sports which will be available in this year’s village sports day are: basketball, bowls, cricket, football, golf, gymnastics, netball, pickleball, rugby, table tennis, tchoukball and tennis.
Triathlon will be part of this year’s sports day, but this event will be held at Highfield School from 10am to noon on Sunday, July 3.
