ROWLANDS Castle residents are invited to enter the second ’Living Advent Calendar’ event in the village - and there are just two weeks for entry applications to be in.

It will see at least 24 windows in 24 village houses, churches or businesses decorated and illuminated with festive scenes.

At least one window is ’opened’ each day from December 1 to Christmas Eve.

Each window will remain illuminated from at least 5pm to 9pm, up until, and including, New Year’s Day.

An event spokesman said: "The aim is for each window to be a surprise when it’s revealed.

"We were wowed by last year’s creations - they really did brighten up the village over Christmas, so set aside the chocolate and take your advent calendar experience to the next level."

A map will be available online at the end of November on the Rowlands Castle Living Advent Calendar Facebook page and on the Rowlands Castle Association website.

Villagers and visitors can then wander round the living advent calendar trail outside, safely, at their leisure, throughout December.

Participating households can choose the day they wish to start on a first-come, first-served basis.

However, it is important to clearly include the advent window date in the design of your window.

The window design does not have to be religious, but should have a Christmas and festive feel.

It can be an upstairs window but needs to be well lit - the more colourful and brighter the better - and needs to be clearly and safely visible from a pavement or footpath.

If you wish to take part email [email protected] your name and address, your email address, and your window date preference between December 1 and December 24.
