Concerns that Wetherspoons isn’t coming to Farnham have been swept under the firm’s infamous carpet as plans have been served to Waverley Borough Council.
The pub chain wants to make minor changes to 9-11 East Street after signing a deal to take over the former Slug & Lettuce premises.
There were claims the firm had changed its mind over opening in Farnham as the town did not appear on a list of branches expected to open around the UK in 2025.
But although their spokesperson, Eddie Gershon, could not give an opening date, he confirmed to the Herald on Wednesday that plans have been submitted.
He said: “We have submitted planning for the new pub, which is expected back in May.”
The plans include the relocation of a fire exit door and demolition of an outbuilding in a poor state of repair.
A new outbuilding, which will be used as a cellar, is proposed, with changes adding an extra 24 square metres to the courtyard area.
